Fortunately, we have the 80/20 rule, which helps us understand our numbers. The rule stands for 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.
If you are building your list or promoting any program then 80% of your signups will come from 20% of your traffic sources. You need to get more traffic from those that convert and drop those that are under-performers.
You cannot make these decisions unless you have the tracking and numbers to provide the information you need. You need to know the source of every visitor and every signup. You also need to know which thing you are promoting is more efficient at getting signups.
If you collect the information but don't ever analyze it and change your daily actions, then it is useless.
Each week/month, I figure out what the conversion rate is on every lead capture page and program I promoted that week/month and on every traffic source. I compare it to the past numbers so I can see what is working.
