During the pandemic, one documentary caught my attention on Netflix.
It’s called “The Last Dance.” If you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend it. It’s a masterclass in competitiveness.
If any doubt existed that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in history, the docu-series put those doubts to rest.
Jordan stands out among all other players for a simple reason: he simultaneously...
1. Towered over all other players because of his unmatched skill level and competitive nature. He built himself to win.
2. Crushed his competitors. Demolished them. Disdained them. Humiliated them. Reduced them to dust.
He held himself to a higher standard than anybody else in the game and held other players — both his adversaries AND teammates — in contempt for not doing the same.
There’s a big lesson to be learned in his approach. You can apply it in your copy.
I learned an important copywriting pattern from one of my coaches Martin Messier — he calls it the “Monolith Pattern” — that “michaeljordans” your copy into the stratosphere.
It positions your product as the dominant, preemptive and preeminent option while simultaneously positioning your competition as obscure, marginal and even… downright questionable…
When you use this pattern, you accomplish this without ever having to mention names or badmouth anybody…
...which makes it all the more sneaky and powerful.
What do you think would happen if your readers perceived what you had to offer as the most valuable option?
Well, that’s how the world perceived Michael Jordan… to the tune of $2.1 billion.
Yes, you read correctly. That’s billion with a “B.”
You might not get as far as Jordan net worth, but I guarantee you’ll get yourself much closer to it by applying this pattern.
It is part of the Pentafecta, which you can get right here until Sunday:
Best of all: besides explaining to you what the Monolith Pattern is and the effect it has, Martin gives you ten examples where it is used masterfully.
Learn it, use it, profit from it.
Your ROI will astound you.
