Most of the emails that I write to you are about how to get more results in your marketing. Today, we are going to look at things a different way.
What things might you be doing that is PREVENTING you from getting results? What do you need to stop doing, if you want to achieve your goals.
In my last email on Saturday, we talked about changing what you are tracking in your website traffic. Instead of focusing on just how many hits (visitors) your website is getting, you need to look deeper. If you missed the email, you can still read it by clicking here.
Another common mistake that beginning marketers make is to focus on number of signups, rather than quality of signups. Just like traffic, not all subscribers are the same. Some are more likely to buy than others.
Maybe what is holding you back is that your signups are not of great quality.
Just like I could go to Fiverr and have someone send me 5,000 visitors to my lead capture page tomorrow for $5, you can also get really cheap signups. That $5 in traffic will almost be guaranteed to get no results. So will 100 bad quality signups.
What do you need to look out for?
Signup quality is a reflection of the traffic quality. If you are getting traffic from people who are truly interested in what you are talking about, and who have the ability to buy what you ultimately hope to sell them, then the people who signup will probably be of good quality.
If, however, you are advertising to people who are only signing up because they will earn 25 cents for the signup, then you will probably never make a sale. They aren't joining because they are truly interested. They are joining because they are being paid to join.
You want a 1,000 person list, that gets a 10-15% open rate and almost always gets a few signups when you send an email. You do not want a 10,000 person list with a 1% open rate and almost 0% click rate. Obviously those 10,000 people are not truly interested in what you are talking about.
