My business turned around as soon as I started focusing on building my email list, instead of on promoting programs like SFI to my visitors.
Now I add between 250 to 300 new subscribers every month to my list. I email my list in AWeber with at least 3 or 4 new content pieces every week. Building trust with my list had enabled me to become a top promoter of new launches in our niche.
However, you may be surprised to learn that my email list is actually very small. I currently send my emails to only 1,100 - 1,200 subscribers.
How can I only have an email list of 1,200 subscribers if I add 300 new subscribers each month?
Simple, I only email those who are truly engaged.
You don't need a big email list to be successful. You need a responsive one.
I keep my list responsive by following rules to keep my list very clean. If subscribers are not active, then I remove them from the list. I do this before sending every email.
My rule is that for someone to stay on the list, they must either be a new subscriber (less than 30 days) or have opened at least 1 email in the last 90 days. By applying this rule to keep my list clean, I am adding new people in one end and removing inactive people from the other end.
Instead of being caught up in building a big email list just for vanity, I am building a small list of super-engaged subscribers.
In my email on Wednesday, I will help to dispel some of the most common myths about email marketing.
