One mistake that many beginning online marketers make is thinking that they need to try to please everyone.. It's not a good idea. Let me tell you why.
The initial thought is that if you make your message so that everyone will want to hear it, or you make your product so that everyone will want to buy it, then you have a bigger market to sell to.
The problem with that approach is that it means that you have to make the message or product so generic, that it becomes boring.
The only way to appeal to everyone is to say nothing.
The goal of your marketing is to attract toward you the people who resonate with your message AND push away the people you don't want.
For example, if your message is to follow you and the listener can make money online quickly, then you will attract toward you the people who want to get rich quick. However, you will push away the people who do not believe in get rich quick.
Talk about how it is hard work and takes time to build a business, and you will chase away the get rich quick types.
See what I mean.
This is actually good for your business because it isn't the size of your audience that matters, it is the relationship and connection you have with them that matters. You want them to either love you or hate you.
If they don't like you, they will unsubscribe. If they love you, they will read your emails, click your links, and buy your stuff. You will not get people to love you by trying to appeal to everyone.
