Last month, I launched two new funnels that increased my email list by 693 subscribers. Although they focused on building email lists and not on sales, they have generated $636.5 so far.
Expenses No Longer Hurt
If you divide the profit by the subscriber quantity, you get a very important number. In my case, it is $636.5 / 693 = $0.92.
Why this number is so
important?
It's very simple.
I know in advance that the average subscriber brings in $0.92 through that particular offer. This means I can spend up to $0.92 to add a new list member without losses.
This is a very common figure, and it usually is around $1.
The best thing about email marketing, which is also unique to it, is that when you establish yourself as an authority and build trust with your audience, you can expect
to earn $1 per subscriber per month.
This can help you measure your actions and check your list building strategy. For example, if your goal is to earn $3,000 per month, you would need a list of 3,000 active subscribers.
As long as they remain on your list, you can recommend other products to them. And if you increase your list by 693 subscribers, you can expect to increase your reccuring monthly income by $693. If you do your marketing the right way.
Of course, every list is unique, and there are cases where marketers earn much
more. But we treat those as exceptions, and focus on the average numbers.
This is why I like the Dean Jackson formula: "If you have a list of 500 subscribers, you are sitting on a gold mine".
Your First Funnel Overview
There are many different types of funnels, but your first funnel should be a Lead Capture Funnel. Its goal is to connect with prospects and get them to join your email list.
Then you gradually move them forward, turnig them from strangers into people
who know, like and trust you, and eventually into happy customers.
A Break-Even Goal
You want your first funnel to be profitable. But here's the truth: your first destination is to make it break-even.
When you start, it can be cash negative, meaning you spend more money than you receive. However, over time when you get $1 in return for every $1 spent, you will have created an asset that builds your list for free.
This is when you can start calling yourself a
winner.
Because you no longer worry about the autoresponder costs, the upgrades or the traffic expenses. You know your numbers, and you are willing to spend $100 or $1,000 to grow your list faster.
The "I don't Need a List" Trap
You might be wondering: Can you send traffic to "a-super-duper-profitable-funnel" that makes millions without bothering about the list?
This is exactly what those guru want from you. Not only will you be sending them traffic without a
guarantee, but you will also be building THEIR lists. If you are lucky, you might get some occasional commissions - just enough to keep you in the game.
Your Funnel Parts
A Lead Capture Funnel consists of the following parts:
- A Landing page
- A Thank-You page with a one-time offer (OTO)
- 2-3 emails in a sequence to warm up those who are in doubt
- A "gun to the head" sales email
All these parts are tied:
